Get Ready To Laugh

On May 20th I posted that I had received a package from my Secret Sister and she wanted me to take pictures. Well the weather hasn't been cooperating until today. So as I promised, I set up the props and got into costume and had my personal photographer do a photo shoot. Now mind you, I don't always dress like this but if I could be swept away to a tropical paradise with white sandy beaches you might catch me looking something like this.

But first let me tell you about some of the props. I have to tell you I have the most creative SS and she went all out. She even sent me a white sandy beach and sea shells. Got ya'll trying to guess now don't I? Now no fair scrolling ahead and peaking! Now minus a knitting or crochet project, I am set to sit here and soak up the sun with tropical drink in hand and some snacks to keep me sustained. And if it gets too warm I just turn on my handy dandy little personal fan to cool myself down. If I decide that I have been sitt
ing for a little too long and need to give my drink a break I have some wonderful Bird of Paradise seeds I can plant with my beach/garden tools. Then as the day goes by and the sun begins to set, I can light the citranella candle to set the mood and keep those pesky bugs away.

Thank you very much SS whoever you are!

My Knitting/Crochet Spot

Okay, I don't usually do memes, but Scout at Scout's Knitted Swag (by the way she dyes yarn in the most wonderful colorways, so go check them out) inspired me to show everyone where all of my creativity is done. So here it is in all it glory! Oh, and if you are looking at this you have now been tagged. So lets see your knitting/crochet spot and post a comment with a link to it.

And here is the view from my throne.

And supplies close at hand.

One thing I noticed when looking at everyone's knitting spots, we all seem to arrange our spaces in the same manner. Hmmmmm, is there more to this knitting/crocheting thing I should know about? Is arranging our areas in this fashion an unspoken rule that we all know by instinct?

R.A.O.K.

Thank you Jami for the random act of kindness!! Jami is one of my online friends that knew I loved to loom knit and have been trying to needle knit a pair of socks. She sent me an EFG DA sock loom with a tool and 5 skeins of sock yarn, 4 skeins of Lambs Pride WW 85% wool/15% mohair for felting in Winter Blue and the Knitting Wheel Fashions pattern book. I knew she was sending me a package, but I wasn't expecting the pattern book...what a great surprise!! Take a look---------->

Jami recently started her own blog (
Jami's Loom and Boards) and you can see it here! She is in the process of starting her own business making dishcloth rakes and dishcloth patterns. She has asked me to help her by being a pattern tester for her. Yippee!! I can't wait to get started! Please take the time to visit her blog. I will let you know when she starts selling the loom rakes and patterns!

Scored 44!!!

I stopped by Michaels and the Dollar Tree today and look what I scored! They were only $1 a skein, so I picked up 44 skeins. I can't believe what a bargain this was. The Ticker Tape yarn usually sells for $8 a skein and I picked up 20 skeins of it. It was really hard not to buy more than I did, but I resisted! Now to put this yarn to use. I also picked up a copy of the Michaels Book of Needlecrafts with my Joann's 40% off coupon.

Its Been a Busy Week

I haven't posted in nearly a week because I have been very busy. I thought I would give you a rundown of my week so you can see what I have been up to:

MONDAY & TUESDAY

I watched my oldest daughter's golf tournament. Her high school golf team made it to the state golf championship. They won 1st place in the OSAA 3A/2A/1A high school girls golf division state championship. The tournament was held at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond, Oregon. They played 18 holes of golf in scorching 90 degree weather both days.

Wednesday

I worked for a few hours at Dakota St. Pizza and then I spent the rest of the day recouperating from all of the walking that was done on Monday and Tuesday. I guess old age is catching up with me!

Thursday

Went to work for a few hours. When I got home from work the postal person delivered a package to me from Jenn. I received a beautiful scarf that she had made for me for the KKex scarf exchange. I spent the evening catching up on emails and chatting with friends.

Friday

Again worked for a few hours and when I got home there were 2 more packages that the postal person had delivered. The first package was the One Skein book by Leigh Radford.I am participating in the One Skein Secret Pal Exchange, so I thought this would be a great book for a pattern to make something for my secret pal for the reveal package that is to be sent in August. (oh and I just found out that Leigh Radford is going to be visiting a yarn store in a town not too far from me in August, so I plan to go and have her sign my book)

The second package was from my secret sister from the KKex group I belong to. She sent me a very large package and when I say very large, I mean HUGE. Inside was a paradise vacation. I am not going to tell you anymore because I am going to do a post about it on another day. (package contained props and my SS wants me to take pictures) So as soon as it stops rainning I will set up the props and get in costume and take some pics!

I did manage to work on a couple of my projects in the evening while watching the movie "When A Stranger Calls."

Saturday
(That would be today)

I went to my youngest daughter's soccer game and spent the rest of the morning designing a knitted towel topper and this is how it turned out!

I also worked on this scarf for the scarf exchange. It is almost complete. As soon as I finish this post I am off to finish the scarf and work on a knitted dishcloth while I watch the movie "King Kong."

She Loved It!

I finished the shawl and we gave it to my husbands mom for Mother's Day and she loved it!

Update

Shawl---I have the shawl for my mother-in-law finished and I just need to add the fringe. It is going to be a mother's day gift for her.

Sweetpea Sweater--I haven't picked this up in almost a week because I have been working on the shawl. I will have it completed this weekend.

First pair of socks--I have 2 rows of ribbing finished.......hey, I at least have them started and I haven't frogged them again!

I have a few other WIM that I would like to start but I am going to wait until I have these projects finished. I never seem to have enough time lately.....must be the nice weather.

Good Lookin' Guy

I was on my way to work driving down the main street in our town, listening to the radio this morning and I saw this guy getting out of a truck at the carburetor shop. So I did a double take and looked again and thought to myself "I wonder who that is, he is sure good lookin'." All I could see was his back side, so I took a 3rd look and about that time he turned around. I about died laughing, because this "good lookin' guy" was my husband!! It never dawned on me that it was my husband when I first looked because he was in one of the business' trucks.

I called him later in the day and told him that I caught a gal eyeing him this morning. Then I told him the story. He just laughed and said "Honey, are you guys drinking down there?" I said "No, it just shows that I still have good taste in men."

If At First You Don't Succeed.....

....Try and Try again!

My attempt to knit socks is kicking my butt, but I haven't give up yet. I have frogged them twice and I am on my 3rd attempt, but this time I am armed and ready to tackle them! I WILL CONQUER THIS FEAT!!!

I am determinded to make a pair of socks, although I do have to say that working with dpn's are a challenge. I was so frustrated by the second time I frogged them that if anyone had been around, they probably would have taken off running in the opposite direction. So I have given myself a couple of days to regroup and put together my plan of attack. I am by no means an expert knitter. I have been crocheting for years and just taught myself to knit a couple of years ago.

I found this website (click the word website to view) and I am going to use it to guide me through my first pair of socks. If this doesn't work then I will be heading to our local senior center to see if anyone there would like to help me.

I am almost finished with the Sweetpea sweater for my niece and the shawl for my mother-in-law.

I just purchased a yarn winder and put it to work. I can't believe I have lived without this for so long!! I also placed an order for the One Skein book.

On a positive note.....during my frustration my creative juices started to flow and I came up with something and it involves recycling. I can't tell you what it is yet because I have to test it out to see if it is going to work. As soon as I have tried it I will take pics and tell you how it's done.

I am off with my weapons in hand to conquer those socks!! Wish me luck!!

Yarn Monster In The Making

I think I am creating a yarn monster. This is my daughter, Kayla, drooling over the yarn in The Wool Company yarn store in Bandon. We had so much fun looking at all the yarn.
I purchased 2 skeins of sock yarn and a set of Brittney double pointed needles. This is an awesome store and I will definately be going back to it again.

Check out all of the yarn.....and there was soooooo much more than what is in the pictures.

And The Winner Is..........

Lisa

I would like to introduce my mascot to everyone.

Wooly Mama!
Lisa please email your address to me so I can send you your yarn.
